Happy Monday fam !
You know my love for music and when good artists happen to come across my life, I just feel blessed.
One of those artists is Zion T. He is a genius. And saying that would even be an understatement.
He literally seems to breath through music because he has such a gift for that. His music is like a delicate poetry that would have been put into some sexy
melodies. He has been on my top playlist for years now and the truth is I was a
bit worried when he recently changed his music label for a big Kpop music label,
YG Entertainment (BigBang, 2NE1, Akdong Musician, Tablo, etc…). YG can do wonder with his artists and also f*ck them up sometimes
(look at the whole 2NE1 mess:
Blackjacks fan will understand me on that).
Anyway, I was not really optimistic about Zion.T going to YG. But
I was wrong and I am SO glad I was. Zion.T’s
new album “OO”, which is also his first under YG Entertainment label management,
is a pure gem. Sleek, delicate, playful
and refined are the qualifications I would use for this new opus: I freaking love
every songs and Zion.T as usual like
to play around the edges and always surprises on the next beat. My favorite songs
of this new album are definitely “Cinema”
that feels like a soft caress on a sunny afternoon (perfect for a chill summer playlist), but also “Sorry”
a duet with one of my faves, Beenzino
(amazing Korean rapper). “Sorry” is
the sweetest jam that could be written to ask for forgiveness from a lover. How
can you not forgive someone who writes you this kind of song to say he is sorry? Following, “The Song” a delicious and playful ode
to love and sweet beginnings and its music video has a sweet and slightly crazy aesthetics.
I will let you see by yourself below the post. “Complex”, the duo with G-Dragon is a good song with an interesting
musical arrangement and a heavy trap beat (quite different from the usual style
of Zion.T so it can be quite surprising
at first). However, I was less convinced by this song than by the duo with Beenzino. Then, we pursue this pleasant
cruise with some “Bad Guys” on the way
before ending on some soulful “Wishes”.
Stay inspired.
Hello
